Nebraska’s run in the B1G Tournament continues.

After defeating Rutgers 68-61 on Wednesday night, the Huskers stunned a United Center crowd in Round 2 of the B1G Tournament, defeating fifth-seeded Maryland 69-61 to advance to the quarterfinal round. They will play Wisconsin on Friday.

James Palmer Jr. had another big day for Nebraska, scoring 24 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing three assists in the win. Two other Huskers scored in double figures as well, as Glynn Watson Jr. pitched in with 19 Isaiah Roby added 15 points.

Nebraska has now won three straight games going back to the regular season, defeating Iowa in overtime in the season finale.

Maryland was led by Anthony Cowan Jr., who scored 18 points in the lose. The Huskers completely shut down big man Bruno Fernando, who had just three points and eight rebounds.

Nebraska and Maryland met twice in the regular season, both of which were wins for the Terrapins. But the Huskers have been fighting short-handed to try and earn some sort of postseason bid, even if it’s a trip to the NIT. They’ve won the last two games with just six scholarship players.

The Huskers are now the second 13 seed in tournament history to advance to the quarterfinal round, according to Big Ten Network’s telecast.

On Friday, Nebraska will take on Wisconsin, the fourth seed in the B1G Tournament. The Huskers and Badgers played just once in the regular season, with Wisconsin posting a 62-51 victory in late January.

Tipoff for Friday’s game will be set for approximately 2:55 p.m. ET.
