If George Kittle’s play on the field wasn’t enough to define him as an Iowa legend, then his appearance in Chicago at the B1G Tournament this week might do the trick.
The former Hawkeyes tight end and current San Francisco 49ers star was in attendance at the B1G Tournament this week, cheering on his alma mater. Dressed in black and gold garb, Kittle was enjoying himself and Iowa’s big win over Illinois the old-fashioned college way.

When does construction start for the George Kittle statue outside Kinnick Stadium?
Kittle did Iowa fans proud this season in the NFL, totaling 88 receptions for 1,377 yards and five touchdowns with the 49ers. In just his second year in the league, he’s already considered one of the top tight ends in the league.
But Kittle hasn’t forgotten his roots. He’s still cheering on the Hawkeyes and making Iowa proud. This time it was in the stands with a cold brew in hand.
