Minnesota has made another early addition to its 2020 recruiting class.
On Friday, the Gophers received a verbal commitment from three-star running back Ky Thomas out of Topeka, Kan. He became the fourth prospect to commit to Minnesota in the 2020 class and his currently the highest-rated player of the group.
Thomas made his announcement via Twitter on Friday night.
“I want to thank all the schools who gave me the opportunity to play at the next level,” Thomas wrote. “Big thanks to the city of Topeka, all my coaches and a special thanks to my family for always being there. I’m 100% committed to the University of Minnesota!!!”

Thomas is listed as one of the top 500 players in the 2020 class, per 247Sports. He’s ranked as the No. 34 running back and the third-best player out of Kansas.
Along with Thomas, Minnesota has landed commitments from Aaron Witt (DE), C.J. West (DT) and Jonathan Mann (WR). Thomas is the only current prospect in the Gophers’ class ranked in the top 500.
With four players committed, Minnesota’s 2020 class currently ranks seventh in the B1G and 25th nationally. The Gophers’ 2019 recruiting class finished 10th in the conference and 43rd overall.
