Michigan State is the B1G regular season and tournament champion in 2019.

Despite trailing Michigan by as many as 13 points in the second half, Cassius Winston made big plays down the stretch and the Spartans ended the game on a 10-0 run to register a 65-60 win in the B1G Tournament final. It’s the team’s first tournament title since 2016 and sixth ever.

The Spartans also went 3-0 against Michigan this season, winning the two regular season matchups, as well.

Michigan held a 60-55 advantage with 2:31 play, but a Matt McQuaid three-pointer and another bucket from Xavier Tillman tied the game at 60-60 with less than 1:20 left. Winston then gave the Spartans a 62-60 lead on a Winston layup.

Kenny Goins knocked down a pair of free throws to seal the victory for the Spartans. The improved to 28-6 on the year with the win.

McQuaid had a huge performance for Michigan State, scoring 27 points while knocking down seven shots from three-point range. Winston recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 assists. Tillman had nine points and 11 rebounds.

The Wolverines were led by Ignas Brazdeikis, who scored 19 points. Jon Teske registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Jordan Poole had 13 points.

With the three wins in the B1G Tournament, Michigan State has now won five straight games.
