For a third-straight year, Michigan is making a trip to the Sweet Sixteen.
Michigan outscored Florida by 11 in the second half, recording a 64-49 victory over the Gators to keep its season alive. The Wolverines have reached the Sweet Sixteen now each of the last three years and is the first B1G team to punch its ticket this year.
Zavier Simpson was excellent in every facet and came so close to recording a triple-double, scoring nine points, grabbing nine rebounds and dishing nine assists. Jordan Poole led the Wolverines in scoring, totaling 19 for the game. Isaiah Livers was the only other Michigan player to hit double figures, adding 10 points.
The Wolverines held a 32-28 advantage heading into halftime, but turned up the heat out of the gate in the second half. Michigan used an 11-0 run in the first 2:10 seconds to take a 43-28 lead. The Wolverines’ led by as many as 16 in the contest.
Michigan’s big advantage in the game came on the class, outrebounding Florida 42-29. They also grabbed 11 offensive boards to create second-chance opportunities.
Michigan now will await the winner of Buffalo-Texas Tech in the Sweet Sixteen,
