Six B1G wrestlers are headed back to their campuses as national champions.
On Saturday, the NCAA wrestling national championships took place, pitting the top grapplers in the nation against each other. Six of the 10 champions this season came from the B1G, hailing from three different schools.
Penn State led the way with three national champions while Rutgers had two wrestlers win an individual title. Iowa also had one individual stand atop the podium. Here’s the list of B1G champions by weight class:
- 125: Spencer Lee, Iowa
- 133: Nick Suriano, Rutgers
- 149: Anthony Ashnault, Rutgers
- 157: Jason Nolf, Penn State
- 197: Bo Nickal, Penn State
- 285: Anthony Cassar, Penn State
In addition to the individual titles, Penn State took home the NCAA team title, winning its eighth national championship in the last nine years. It also marked the 13th straight year a B1G program has won the team title.
