Michigan will not be making a return appearance to the Final Four.

The Wolverines’ season came to an end on Thursday night, falling 63-44 to Texas Tech in the Sweet Sixteen, erasing any hopes of a second-straight trip to the Final Four. The 19-point defeat was the worst of the season for John Beilein and Co.

A poor shooting night and more than a dozen turnovers proved to be costly for Michigan on Thursday night, even against a Texas Tech squad that endured its own offensive troubles for a good chunk of the game. The Wolverines shot a paltry 32.7 percent from the field and made just one of their 19 three-point attempts in the loss.

Michigan also turned the basketball over 14 times.

Zavier Simpson, who has been the do-it-all point guard throughout the postseason, ended with one of his worst performances in a Michigan uniform, totaling just one rebound and one assist and failed to score a single basket in what ended up being the season finale. The Wolverines also got just three points off the bench from little-used C.J. Baird in the closing moments.

Ignas Brazdeikis highlighted the night for Michigan, registering a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Charles Matthews was the only other Wolverine to reach double figures, scoring 12.

Michigan ended its season with a 30-7 record.
