Penn State now has six verbal commitments in its 2020 recruiting class.

On Tuesday, three-star offensive guard Golden Achumba gave his verbal pledge to the Nittany Lions. He’s the second offensive lineman to commit in the 2020 class and the sixth prospect to join James Franklin and Co.

Achumba made his announcement via Twitter.

“I want to personally thank every school and college recruiter that has offered me the opportunity to continue my educational and athletic career at their university,” Achumba wrote. “I’m honored to have been able to experience the recruitment process. With that being said, I am 100% committed to the Pennsylvania State University!”

Achumba provides good size along the offensive line, standing 6-foot-4 and weighing in at 320 pounds. A Maryland native and DeMatha Catholic product, the offensive lineman had offers from more than two dozen programs. Achumba chose Penn State over Maryland, Oklahoma, Indiana, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Rutgers and Tennessee, among others.

Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Achumba is a top 20 player out of Maryland and cracks the top 500 prospects in the 2020 recruiting cycle. He ranks No. 24 among offensive guards in the class.

Penn State currently owns the 13th-best recruiting class of the 2020 cycle and ranks fourth in the B1G.
