With only the Final Four remaining of the college basketball season, the Associated Press has unveiled its All-America teams for the 2018-19 campaign.
Three B1G stars earned honors after tremendous years. Michigan State’s Cassius Winston was the lone conference player to earn first-team honors while Purdue’s Carsen Edwards and Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ were both named to the second-team.
Winston, who was also the B1G Player of the Year, averaged 18.9 points, 7.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game this season and led Michigan State to B1G regular season and tournament titles. He’s also got the Spartans in the Final Four after dropping a double-double against Duke in the Elite Eight, scoring 20 points and dishing 10 assists in the win.
Edwards was the B1G’s leading scorer this year, averaging 23 points per game. He was a first-team All-B1G selection and led Purdue to a share of the B1G regular season title and an Elite Eight berth. He scored a career-high 42 points in two games in the NCAA Tournament.
Happ was a double-double machine for Wisconsin this season, scoring 17.5 points and grabbing 10.1 boards per game. He also recorded 1.3 blocks and 1.1 steals per game for the Badgers. Wisconsin finished in the top four of the B1G and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
