Former Nebraska wide receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El has found a home in the NFL.
On Monday, the Oakland Raiders announced that they had signed Pierson-El, a free agent who was most recently playing with the Salt Lake Stallions in the AAF. The league recently halted all operations due to expenses.
Pierson-El caught 36 passes for 414 yards and a touchdown with the Stallions. He was the team leader in receptions and yards through eight games. Before joining Salt Lake, Pierson-El had brief stints with the Washington Redskins and the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes.
Before his professional career, Pierson-El spent four season with Nebraska, suiting up from 2014-17. The wide receiver played in 43 games, recording 100 catches for 1,309 yards and 11 touchdowns. Pierson-El also earned a reputation as one of the deadliest special teams return men in the country early in his career with the Huskers. He had three punt returns for touchdowns, all coming in his first season.
Pierson-El was undrafted free agent in 2017.
