Just moments after Virginia claimed the 2019 national title, defeating Texas Tech 85-77 in an overtime thriller on Monday night, the focused immediately shifted to next season.
College basketball expert Jon Rothstein released his way-too-early rankings for the 2019-20 season, giving fans plenty to talk about this offseason. And Rothstein is really high on the state of Michigan and the B1G.
That’s right, Rothstein has Michigan State and Michigan in the top two spots heading into the offseason. He also has three other B1G squads listed in his top 20 — Maryland, Iowa and Purdue.
Here’s how Rothstein ranked the 2019-20 top 25 following Monday night’s contest.

Several way-too-early polls have had mixed reviews on the B1G. Some have had as few as three teams from the league in the rankings while others have had as many as six.
There’s a reason we call them the way-too-early rankings for a reason.
But Rothstein seems to be pretty big on the conference in general, and has high expectations for the Spartans and Wolverines next season.
