Former Notre Dame and NFL running back Cierre Wood has been arrested by Las Vegas police and charged in connection to the death of a child, according to reports.
ABC 57 News reported that Wood and girlfriend Amy Taylor are both facing charges of abuse following the death of Taylor’s 5-year-old daughter.
Wood is facing first-degree child abuse or neglect charges. Police investigated the situation after the child died in a Las Vegas hospital on Tuesday night. Wood is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning.
Wood was a running back at Notre Dame from 2010-13 and had 2,447 yards and 16 touchdowns in his career with the Fighting Irish. He spent time on four NFL teams following his college career.
