A familiar face will be on the basketball sidelines next season.

On Friday afternoon, Nebraska confirmed that head coach Fred Hoiberg has added former Huskers leader Doc Sadler to his staff, along with Matt Abdelmassih, Armon Gates and Bobby Lutz. Sadler decided to leave his position as head coach at Southern Miss to return to Lincoln.

Sadler was the head coach at Nebraska from 2006-12, leading the Huskers to three NIT appearances. In those six seasons, he compiled a 101-89 record and posted four winning seasons. He coached in the B1G for just one year.

For the last five years, Sadler has been the head coach at Southern Miss, where he turned a 3-20 team in 2014-15 into a 20-win squad this past season. He leaves the program with a 56-94 overall record.

Hoiberg was officially introduced as Nebraska’s head basketball coach last week and has been assembling his staff.
