Saturday’s spring game will be one Penn State wide receiver Dan Chisela remembers for a lifetime.
During the Blue-White Game on Saturday, Chisela caught a touchdown pass late in the third quarter. But that isn’t what made this year’s scrimmage so memorable.
Immediately after the touchdown catch, while the walk-on receiver was headed back to the sideline, head coach James Franklin took over the microphone and announced over the loudspeaker at Beaver Stadium that Chisela had been awarded a full scholarship.
His teammates helped him celebrate the moment.

Chisela was a member of Penn State’s track and field team before joining the football team. He appeared in two games for the Nittany Lions in 2018, playing on special teams.
Franklin has always found great ways to surprise deserving players with the scholarship announcement. This one will go down as one of he most memorable.
