Nebraska punter Caleb Lightbourn has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal and will explore opportunities elsewhere, according to a report.

Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald reported Monday night that Lightbourn placed his name in the transfer database and will look for opportunities to complete his career elsewhere. He could still return to Nebraska if that would be his best interest.

Lightbourn was Nebraska’s primary punter in 2016 and 2017 but split time with Isaac Armstrong last fall.

Lightbourn averaged 41.58 yards per punt last season while appearing in nine games and punting 24 times for the year. Armstrong had a slightly better average at 43.63 per boot and had 32 punts. Lightbourn was also utilized as a kickoff man in 2018.

In three years with the Huskers, Lightbourn averaged 40.96 yards per punt and totaled 148 punts while in Lincoln. He’s played in 33 career games and will have one year of eligibility remaining.
