The rich get richer on the recruiting trail.

On Tuesday afternoon, five-star defensive tackle and No. 1 overall prospect in the 2020 class Bryan Bresee announced his commitment to Clemson. He chose the Tigers over offers from several elite programs, including Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State.

The Damascus, Maryland native is listed as the No. 15 rated recruit all-time by 247Sports’ composite rankings. Bresee has drawn comparisons to Ndamukong Suh and Rashan Gary.

Bresee’s commitment makes this the second time in three years Clemson has landed the No. 1 overall recruiting prospect in a class. In the 2018 class, quarterback Trevor Lawrence was ranked as the top player of the cycle.

Clemson was the winner of last year’s national championship, marking the second title in three seasons. The Tigers have reached the College Football Playoff each of the last four seasons, playing in the championship game on each trip.

Bresee was also considering Georgia and Alabama as potential landing spots.
