Nebraska LB announces decision to leave program

Sophomore linebacker Breon Dixon has announced that he plans to leave Nebraska and will enter his name in the transfer portal to explore other opportunities.

Dixon issued a statement regarding his future on Twitter late Wednesday night. He said that he had a conversation with the coaching staff and mutually decided “that I had to do what’s best for my future at this point and find a school and scheme that better fits my skill set and play style.”

Dixon is a former four-star recruit and originally committed to Ole Miss in 2017. There, he played safety as a true freshman.

Following the scandal involving Hugh Freeze and ensuing sanctions, Dixon decided to leave Ole Miss and pursue a career elsewhere. He decided on Nebraska prior to the 2018 season and was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA.

In his only year with the Huskers, Dixon appeared in four games on special teams and made one tackle. He did not mention a potential destination.
