Nebraska continues to lose depth on the defensive side of the football.

This week, linebackers Breon Dixon and Quayshon Alexander announced that they have entered their names in the NCAA transfer portal and will pursue other opportunities. Friday morning, Brian Christopherson of 247Sports reported that the Huskers are losing another defensive player.

Safety Cam’ron Jones has put in his transfer request and will also enter his name in the NCAA portal, allowing him to explore other opportunities. He was redshirted as a true freshman and didn’t see any playing time due to injuries.

Jones was a member of Nebraska’s 2018 recruiting class and was expected to have an immediate impact defensively. The 6-foot, 200-pound safety was a four-star prospect out of high school and one of the top 300 players in the cycle, per 247Sports.

But injuries nagged his first season and forced him to remain on the sidelines and use a redshirt season. He was hoping to have a bounce-back year in 2019 but didn’t make much of an impact during the spring season.

A Mansfield, Texas native, Jones had offers from 14 schools as a high school recruit. There was no mention of a potential destination.
