The B1G had another solid showing at the NFL Draft this year. When the dust settled in Nashville, 40 players from 12 programs heard their names called in one of the seven rounds over the weekend.

That’s pretty good representation for the league. Unfortunately, though, two B1G schools did not have a player selected in this year’s draft, bringing an end to two lengthy streaks.

Nebraska and Purdue were the two conference programs that didn’t produce a draft pick in 2019, And that’s significant for both schools.

Entering this year’s draft, Nebraska had at least one player selected in the NFL Draft for 57-straight years, a streak that dated back to 1962. Purdue’s run wasn’t quite that long, but the Boilermakers did have at least one player selected in ever draft since 1998, a 21-year streak.

But now, those streaks have come to an end and it’s time to start anew. We’ll have to wait another year to see if either school can produce at least one pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and begin a new run.
