Three wide receivers decided to leave their current programs and transfer to Illinois. All three of those players opted to back off their commitment to the Illini.
What appeared to be a promising offseason in the transfer market has taken a serious turn as Richmond receiver Dejon Brissett has decided to decommit from Illinois and play at Virginia instead. He’s the third transfer receiver to pledge to the Illini only to decommit later.
247Sports’ Jamie Oakes broke the news.
Brissett joins Miami receiver Jeff Thomas and Oklahoma receiver A.D. Miller as players to commit to Illinois only to back off later. Thomas and Miller are both returning to their respective schools while Brissett will transfer to another program.
With limited depth at receiver, Brissett was expected to step in and have an immediate impact in Illinois’ passing attack. With his decision to transfer to Virginia, the Illini are still looking for someone to step up at receiver.
