Ohio State keeps No. 1 support in latest AP poll

If there was any concern that a bye week would lessen the support for the No. 1 Buckeyes, it was erased.
Ohio State still held on to the No. 1 spot in the latest Associated Press poll, and received 39 of the possible 61 first-place votes. The Buckeyes will enter November holding the same spot they’ve held since they were the unanimous preseason No. 1 team in the nation.
The Buckeyes were joined by a pair of B1G unbeatens in the top 10. Michigan State, which was also idle, came in at No. 6. Iowa clung to its spot in the top 10 after defeating Maryland 31-15 on Saturday. Michigan came in at No. 16 after escaping with a win in Minnesota.
Ohio State and the rest of the B1G will certainly have a presence when the first College Football Playoff poll drops on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
It wasn’t a completely idle week for the Buckeyes. Quarterback J.T. Barrett was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired early Saturday morning. He’ll be suspended when Ohio State takes on Minnesota next week. Cardale Jones will get his first start since the Penn State game.
