Bill Moos and Scott Frost have been on the same page when it comes to beefing up Nebraska’s non-conference schedule in the future. Both have talked about renewing old rivalries for the Huskers’ days in the Big 12.

On Wednesday, the Nebraska athletic director reiterated that he’d like to incorporate a few different opponents into future schedules. According to Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald, Moos is interested in adding Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri to the slate in the future.

Moos apparently wants to schedule these opponents not just to restore some of the Big 12 rivalry matchups, but for location as well. Ideally, he’d like some of the Huskers’ future foes to be close enough so fans could drive to a handful of the away games.

Nebraska is notorious for traveling well.

Moos and Frost have also expressed interest in getting Oklahoma and Colorado on the schedule more frequently in the past. Those two are Nebraska’s more traditional gridiron rivals.

Last year, Nebraska hosted Colorado at Memorial Stadium. The Huskers will travel to Folsom Field to take on the Buffaloes this fall.

Adding more competitive matchups to the schedule is better for fan interest for those non-conference matchups, and also helps Nebraska’s image on the national stage. As the Huskers attempt to reestablish itself as regular college football power, beating Power Five programs in non-conference matchups will only help its image.
