We’re just 100 days from the college football season. It’s sill a long way to go, but the all-important mile marker that makes us realize kickoff is on the horizon.
To celebrate the 100-day mark, ESPN produced an all-encompassing list of some of the most important things to know about the 2019 season. Perhaps the most interesting was the list of top 10 non-conference matchups for the year.
Two games featuring B1G teams were mentioned in the top 10, and they include two tradition-rich programs.
ESPN included the Oct. 26 matchup between Notre Dame and Michigan, as well as the Sept. 7 contest between Nebraska and Colorado on the list. Both games are restored rivalry games and both should have plenty at stake.
Both Michigan and Nebraska lost these head-to-head rivalry games a season ago, and both are hoping to get revenge in 2019. Wins for the Wolverines and Huskers would be non-conference momentum boosters.
There are a few other intriguing non-conference matchups in the B1G — Northwestern vs. Stanford; Iowa vs. Iowa State; TCU vs. Purdue; Arizona State vs. Michigan State; Pitt vs. Penn State — but none of those games made the cut.
