The University of Cincinnati has filed an appeal to the NCAA after the organization denied an immediate eligibility waiver for Michigan transfer James Hudson III.
Earlier this week, Hudson announced that the NCAA had denied his immediate eligibility waiver, despite his decision to leave Ann Arbor for his mental well being. Following the NCAA’s ruling, Hudson released a message through Twitter asking for support.
Wednesday night, head coach Luke Fickell announced that an appeal had been filed to the NCAA, hoping the organization would overturn its ruling.
Today we filled for James Hudson’s reconsideration with the NCAA. We thank everyone for their support of James! #FreeJamesHudson https://t.co/2VK8frH60r

According to Hudson’s tweet earlier this week, the NCAA denied his waiver because he did not “speak up” about his mental struggles while at the University of Michigan.
If Hudson’s appeal for immediate eligibility is granted, he would have three years of eligibility remaining. If it is denied, he will have to sit out the 2019 season and will have two years of eligibility left.
