Former Ohio State wide receiver L’Christian “Blue” Smith has announced his transfer destination.

Thursday, the former Buckeye announced via Instagram that he would be transferring to Cincinnati to continue his academic and athletic career. Smith will play under former Ohio State assistant coach Luke Fickell.

“Sometimes your path takes a detour but the mission stays the same,” Smith wrote on Instagram. “Second chances don’t happen often but when they do you must be ready. #BearcatNation let’s get it.’

Smith is a former four-star recruit in the 2018 recruiting class. He appeared in three games for the Buckeyes but played a limited number of snaps. With Ohio State having such a deep and talented receiving corps, moving on from the program may have allowed him to see more playing time earlier in his career,

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Smith will be forced to sit out for the 2019 season unless he receives a waiver for immediate eligibility. If he does, he’ll have four years of eligibility. If he’s forced to sit out this fall, he’ll have three years remaining.
