WATCH: Pat Fitzgerald shows off southpaw skills, throws out first pitch at White Sox game

It’s been a long time since Pat Fitzgerald has put on the helmet and shoulder pads, but the Northwestern head coach got the opportunity to show off his athletic ability on Thursday night.

The Chicago White Sox invited Fitzgerald to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Guaranteed Rate Field on Thursday night before a matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays. Fitzgerald, who’s been a Chicago sports fan his entire life, seemed pretty excited about the opportunity.

Fitzgerald showed off his lefty skills, firing the pitch across the plate. His throw was pretty accurate too, almost catching the outside edge. It may have been awhile since he’s put on an athletic uniform, but Fitzgerald still got plenty of ability.
