Something tells me Michigan fans are going to like their quarterback of the future after a recent interview with The Athletic.

J.J. McCarthy, a five-star quarterback prospect in the 2021 class, recently committed to Michigan, picking the Wolverines over several offers. But his heart wasn’t always set on going to Ann Arbor. McCarthy grew up an Ohio State fan, but had a change of heart after a visit to Columbus and claims he was lied to by the coaching staff.

Now, he wants more than anything to defeat the Bukeyes.

“I used to love them, now I want to kill them,” McCarthy told The Athletic.

That hatred comes from head coach Ryan Day apparently telling McCarthy that he didn’t have any plans to take a 2021 quarterback until the end of summer. But the five-star quarterback said he didn’t get a good vibe from Day and the rest of the staff and said he felt lied to.

In late April, Ohio State received a commitment from four-star pro-style quarterback Kyle McCord.

McCarthy now has a bit of a chip on his shoulder and wants to make Ohio State pay on the field. What better place to do it than at Michigan?
