Western Michigan’s leading WR announces transfer to MSU

Michigan State is adding some depth at the wide receiver position.

Thursday night, former Western Michigan receiver Jayden Reed announced that he would be transferring to Michigan State to continue his academic and athletic career. He made the announcement via Twitter.

Reed had a huge impact in his only season at Western Michigan last fall, leading the team with 56 catches for 797 yards and eight touchdowns. He was a second-team All-MAC player as a freshman.

In addition to his receiving numbers, Reed was also an excellent return man, fielding nine kickoffs for 116 yards and 12 punts or 215 yards. He would be quite a spark for the Michigan State offense.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Reed will have to sit out for the 2019 season unless he receivers a waiver for immediate eligibility. Otherwise, Reed won’t be able to take the field for the Spartans until the 2020 season.

Reed will have three years of eligibility for the Spartans.
