A former assistant coach on Michigan’s staff under John Beilein won’t be in Ann Arbor any longer, but will stay in the B1G.

Inside MD Sports reported that DeAndre Haynes has joined Mark Turgeon’s staff at Maryland. The news became official on Monday.

“I’m so excited to be joining Mark Turgeon and his incredible staff at the University of Maryland,” Haynes said in a statement. “The staff and players welcomed me with open arms and I can’t wait to win a lot of games with these guys. I have loved the game of basketball since I was seven years old and I don’t take for granted any day I get the opportunity to coach and mentor. I’m ready to hit the ground running and look forward to being in the gym helping the team improve every day.”

Haynes was a member of Michigan’s coaching staff from 2017-19. Before arriving in Ann Arbor, Haynes was an assistant at Toledo (2016-17) and Kent State (2012-16), his alma mater. He played with the Golden Flashes from 2002-06.
