Report: College football player shot, killed in Dayton

Another college football player has lost his life too early due to gun violence.
The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that Jonte Tinsley, an 18-year-old rising sophomore at Ohio Dominican University was shot and killed at a party early Sunday morning. The incident occurred near Dayton, Ohio and Montgomery County detectives have identified a “very strong person of interest” in connection with the shooting.
Tinsley was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He suffered from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Per 247Sports, Tinsley’s death is the most recent in a heartbreaking list of college football players or recruits who have died due to gun violence. Tinsley is at least the sixth player or recruit to be killed in a shooting since March 2019.
Ohio Dominican University is a Catholic school located in Central Ohio. Tinsley was entering his sophomore year and was a defensive back on the football team.
