The movement from Southern California to Champaign continues.

Monday morning, a former top 200 prospect and USC wide receiver Josh Imatorbhebhe announced via Twitter that he will be completing his academic and athletic career at Illinois. He’s the third former Trojan to join the Illini as a transfer this offseason.

It’s a huge addition for Lovie Smith and the staff, as wide receiver is one of the positions the program lacks depth and talent.

“Without further ado I’m pleased to announce my commitment to THE University of Illinois,” Imatorbhebhe wrote on Twitter, “with a plan to get my Masters in Strategic Brand Communications. Thank you Coach Lovie, Coach Rod (Smith), Coach (Andrew) Hayes and entire UI staff. I can’t wait to get to work.”

As a graduate transfer Imatorbhebhe will be immediately eligible to play for the Illini in the 2019 season. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

He becomes the third player from USC to transfer to Illinois this offseason, joining former teammates Trevon Sidney (WR) and Oluwole Betiku Jr.

In three seasons at USC, Imatorbhebhe totaled just two receptions for 11 yards. But as a former four-star prospect, the receiver can step in immediately for the Illini and make an instant impact in the passing game.

The Illini will open the 2019 season on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Akron.
