Success on the field is only part of the equation when it comes to college football. Sure, it’s the one that fans and alumni are most concerned with, but coaches also want to see their players excel in the classroom, as well.

That’s exactly what Nebraska did for the 2018-19 academic year.

In Scott Frost’s first year as the head coach, the Huskers produced some record-breaking figures on the academic side of the scale. According to a tweet sent out by Nebraska football’s official Twitter account, the team set new program records all year long.

Nebraska’s cumulative grade point average (GPA) for the team was a 3.013, the highest cumulative GPA in school history. The Huskers also had a 3.010 in the spring and a 3.008 in the fall. Both of those were program’s highest for their given semesters.

Not a bad first year for Frost and his staff.

Last year didn’t go quite as planned on the field in Lincoln, as the Huskers finished with a 4-8 record. This fall, however, Nebraska is expected to make a huge leap and potentially challenge for the B1G West title.

Even if that doesn’t quite happen this season, it’s only a matter of time before Nebraska is excelling on the field and in the classroom.
