Minnesota has landed its first commitment from a four-star player in the 2020 class.

Sunday night, The Golden Gophers received a verbal commitment from Daniel Jackson, a Mission Kansas native. He’s the 22nd player in the 2020 recruiting class to verbally commit to Minnesota, and is the first four-star player to join the class.

Jackson made his announcement via Twitter. In addition to Minnesota, he was also considering offers from Wisconsin, Iowa State and Notre Dame.

“I want to thank every coach that gave me the chance to play D1 football at their university, which has been a dream of mine sice I was a kid,” Jackson wrote. “That being said, I am excited to announce that I will be committing to The University of Minnesota.”

A 5-foot-11, 185-pound receiver, Jackson ranks as the second-best player out of Kansas and is one of the top 300 players in the 2020 class, coming in at No. 294. Per 247Sports, Jackson is No. 54 among receivers this cycle.

Minnesota has had an incredibly busy June, receiving more than a dozen commitments this month. Jackson, of course, is the most significant addition for P.J. Fleck and his staff. He’s the highest-ranked commitment of the Gophers’ 2020 class.

Per 247Sports, Minnesota owns the nation’s 24th ranked recruiting class and sits at No. 5 in the B1G.
