Grizzlies to show Mike Conley ultimate honor

Mike Conley spent 12 seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, but before the 2019 NBA Draft, the former Ohio State guard was traded to the Utah Jazz. It marked the end of an era in Memphis, but the franchise plans to show Conley the ultimate honor.
Grizzlies owner Robert J. Pera announced in a statement that the organization will retire Conley’s No. 11 jersey. Pera spoke very highly of Conley and his contributions to Memphis on and off the court.
“Mike Conley represented the Grizzlies and the City of Memphis with true heart and class during his 12 seasons,” Pera said. “His talent, determination and resilience elevated our team to a perennial playoff contender, and his altruism and sportsmanship helped shape the community focused nature of our franchise. For his innumerable contributions on the court and in our community, Mike will always be a beloved Memphian. We are proud that Mike’s #11 jersey will one day be raised to the rafters in FedEx Forum.”
Conley was selected by the Grizzlies in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft with the fourth overall pick. In over a decade of work, he’s the franchise’s all-time leading scorer. For his career, Conley averaged 14.9 points and 5.7 assists per game in Memphis.
Last season, Conley averaged a career-high 21.1 points per game.
Conley played just one season at Ohio State (2006-07) and was a first-team All-B1G selection. That season, the Buckeyes were the NCAA national runners-up, losing to Florida in the title game.
