WATCH: Some Nebraska fans don’t consider Iowa a rival, so a newscaster ripped the Huskers

The idea of Iowa and Nebraska being rivals has been a topic of discussion in those Midwestern states recently. You’d think it’d be something they’d embrace, rather than trying to dismiss.
That’s not the case, though.
Recently, Scott Dochterman of The Athletic wrote a story about the budding rivalry between the Huskers and Hawkeyes, how it will likely become a very intriguing divisional matchup each and every year. Apparently that didn’t sit well with a lot of Nebraska fans.
Several Husker fans chimed in on Twitter, saying that the two teams are not true rivals. That was enough to set off Des Moines newscaster Andy Fales of WHOTV. Fales went on a two-minute long rant, explaining why the game should be considered a rivalry.
Iowa fans will probably enjoy the bit. Nebraska fans not so much.

The Hawkeyes have dominated the recent series, winning four straight and five of the last six meetings. All-time, though, the Huskers still hold a 29-17-3 advantage.
The two teams will meet in Lincoln on Friday, Nov. 29 this year.
