James Franklin crossed international borders to get another commitment for the 2020 recruiting class.
Thursday morning, the Nittany Lions received a verbal pledge from Canadian wide receiver Malick Meiga, from Montreal, Quebec. He’s listed as the No. 2 prospect from Quebec, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings.
A 6-foot-3, 190-pound athlete, Meiga made his announcement public via Twitter. He becomes the 21st player to give a verbal pledge to the Nittany Lions.
“Extremely bless(ed) to announce that I will be playing my next years of football at [Penn State],” Meiga wrote. “Thanks to the coaches for believing in me. Let’s make something great.”

Meiga is a three-star prospect and is listed as one of the top 150 receivers of the class. He was heavily recruited, earning offers from 18 FBS programs.
Along with Penn State, Meiga received interest from Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, Rutgers, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, among others.
Per his stats on 247Sports, Meiga totaled 29 receptions for 682 yards and seven touchdowns as a high school player last year.
Penn State still sits at No. 3 in the B1G recruiting rankings. Nationally, the Lions own the 14th-best class currently.
