One of the messages Scott Frost has hammered home all offseason is restoring Nebraska’s toughness on the field. He wants the Huskers to be known as a hard-hitting, aggressive and physical football team.

During one speaking engagement over the summer, the second-year head coach said he wanted to “beat the piss” out of teams.

Frost reiterated that point again on Thursday, when he met with the media ahead of the start of fall camp. While most are believing the Huskers will see a huge jump in improvement because of speed and scheme, toughness is still a focal point in Lincoln.

According to Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald, Frost said he wants his team to prove it can be “tough” on a weekly basis, capable of “hitting teams in the face” every Saturday.

Fans of the traditional Nebraska football teams — you know, the Tom Osborne days — are going to love it.

Concerns for Nebraska in 2019 primarily lie on the defensive side of the football. Last year, the Huskers struggled to keep teams out of the end zone and stop the run. But if Nebraska toughens up this fall, those are two areas it will show.

It took awhile for Nebraska to show its toughness in 2018. We’ll see if the Huskers come out ready to go in 2019.
