The Dallas Cowboys announced Monday afternoon that they are signing former Ohio State defensive back Tyvis Powell.
Powell appeared in seven games with the San Francisco 49ers during the 2018 season and was waived by the Houston Texans last week. Now he will get a chance to try and carve out a roster spot with the Cowboys.
Powell was a consistent contributor for the Buckeyes defense from 2013-15. He amassed 195 total tackles and recorded eight interceptions during his career. Powell was a key cog in Ohio State’s 2014 National Championship team, finishing fourth on the team in tackles (76) and third on the team in interceptions (4).
Paul is a lifelong fan and student of all things college football. He has been covering college football since 2017 and the B1G since 2018.
