A former star for the Wildcats offensive line has signed with an NFL team.
Tommy Doles, a three-year starter and former All-B1G guard for Northwestern, signed with the Atlanta Falcons Tuesday afternoon. Doles went undrafted in this year’s NFL Draft but signed with the Chicago Bears during the spring.
Doles was an integral part of a Wildcats squad that won 10 games in 2017 and nine games and the B1G West division in 2018. Northwestern was bowl eligible every year Doles was with the team, including three consecutive bowl victories from 2016-18.
The Falcons announced the signing on Twitter:
We have agreed to terms with OL Tommy Doles and have placed QB Kurt Benkert on IR.https://t.co/GsbGwLdLLm

Atlanta spent good money on offensive linemen in free agency, along with drafting two offensive linemen in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. It may be a tough road ahead, but at least Doles will get a shot to make the roster.
