Kyler Murray may have been the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, but Dwayne Haskins represents the future of the league. Well, at least to FOX Sports radio host Colin Cowherd.
Cowherd recently went on one of his passionate tirades, talking about the difference between running quarterbacks and pocket passers. He made it pretty clear that he prefers the pocket passer — hence why he thinks Haskins will have the better NFL career.
“Dwayne Haskins is the future,” Cowherd said. “Not Kyler Murray.”
Cowherd pointed to the risk of injury for running quarterbacks and a shorter lifespan in the NFL.
It’s not as if Cowherd’s point formed out of mid air. Haskins was taken as the No. 14 overall pick in the draft and many even thought he was the best overall quarterback in the draft class. After leading the NCAA in passing yards and touchdowns last fall, there’s a lot of hype around the former Buckeye.
