Indiana is gearing up for this season with sights set on bowl eligibility in 2019.

The Hoosiers have not been bowling since 2016, but expectations are rising in Tom Allen’s third year at the helm. Indiana fell just short of bowl eligibility in 2018 with a record of 5-7. A big reason for that is a defense that allowed 29.9 points per game last season.

It’s no secret the defense needs to make a jump to improve on last year’s record. Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack took time to breakdown the defense following Friday’s practice, and he had particularly high praise for one freshman DB:

“I tell you what, the young freshman Josh Sanguinetti,” Wommack listed when asked which young guys have impressed him. “He is SO ball savvy, he’s got great quicks, all those things.”

Sanguinetti was a three-star recruit out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for the 2019 class. Hopefully, he can get on the field early and make an impact.
