There’s no such thing as being too smart. Well, unless you’re a high school football player who has taken too many classes. That, apparently, can cost you your eligibility.

According to a report from Teddy Greenstein from The Chicago Tribune, three-star Northwestern commit Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen has used all of his eligibility and will not be able to participate in his senior season on the football field.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association made the ruling. The decision is under appeal.

Yaseen has reportedly taken too many classes because he was home-schooled before entering high school, according to the Detroit News. Because he’s earned so many credits above a certain level, he has been ruled ineligible.

Per 247Sports’ Composite rankings, Yaseen is a three-star receiver and is ranked as the No. 11 player out Michigan. He’s listed as one of the top 70 receivers of the 2020 class and is hovering around the to 400 spots overall.

Yaseen committed to Northwestern in December 2018.
