It happens every fall camp.
Walk-ons from everywhere across the country are working their tails off in the hopes of earning a scholarship to play football at their school. Some walk-ons stay off scholarship. For others, their dreams come true.
At Utah, running back Mason Woodward is a senior walk-on who carried the ball twice last season for six yards. The stats may not show it, but he has worked extremely hard to get on scholarship. On Saturday, it all paid off.
Each day after practice, the Utah football program thanks a different group of people that helps the program run. On Saturday, the team thanked the athletic training staff.
However, the last member of the athletic training staff in the video below wasn’t an actual staffer. It was Woodward’s wife in disguise:
Disguised as an athletic trainer, walk-on Mason Woodward’s wife was the first to give him the good news…

Watching Woodward’s teammates react just gives you the chills. The surprised look on the RB’s face says it all. He was shocked and the way Utah went about it was perfect.
Hats off to the Utes, Woodward, Woodward’s wife and everyone involved.
