The Preseason AP top 25 poll was released the other week and Michigan found itself at No. 7 in the opening rankings.

Ohio State came in at No. 5, but many believe this is the Wolverines’ year to finally break through. Harbaugh’s team is, well, Harbaugh’s team. But he also brings back QB Shea Patterson and The Game is in Ann Arbor this year.

Ohio State has a new head coach, a new transfer QB who is much younger than Patterson, and again, will have to travel to Michigan to beat the Wolverines. The stars are aligned for Michigan to have success this season and part of it also has to do with the team’s new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis.

Gattis, coming from Alabama, is looking to open the field up more and showcase the athletes that Michigan has. A more up-tempo style is coming and we’ll be able to finally get to see is when the Wolverines host Middle Tennessee on Aug. 31.

What has this offense looked like during practice?

Wolverines center Cesar Ruiz gave his outlook:

“It’s big play after big play every practice, and it’s not just from one guy,” Ruiz said. “There are big plays all over practice, and we see it all throughout — from the competitive periods to the scout periods. I’d say it’s a little different [from other years]. We know what the athletes on this team are capable of, and for them to be put in positions to show off their athleticism has been amazing to see.”

We certainly shouldn’t doubt that this is going on during practice. We all know that Michigan has elite play-makers on offense. If they’re getting more of an opportunity to showcase those abilities, the sky may be the limit for this Wolverines offense.
