Lane Kiffin is never scared to speak his mind.

The head coach at FAU definitely has an engaging personality, and he is always ready to produce some memorable quotes. Kiffin is also not scared to play the top teams in the country with his Owls squad.

In his first season with the team, FAU played at Wisconsin and fought hard in a 31-14 loss. In 2018, the Owls traveled to Oklahoma and UCF for tough games, losing to both opponents in blowout fashion. All three of those games were against top-25 teams.

Entering his third season with the program, Kiffin and the Owls will once again face two tough teams, starting with the season opener against No. 5 Ohio State in Columbus. When asked about the benefit of starting the season against the Buckeyes, Kiffin had a succinct answer prepared.

Andy Slater shared Kiffin’s comments from The Andy Slater Show on 640 The Hurricane:

Kiffin certainly isn’t wrong. According to Dan Hope with Eleven Warriors, FAU will receive $1.4 million from Ohio State for the game:

It is interesting that Kiffin did not mention something along the lines of pulling off an incredible upset, but maybe he is just approaching the game realistically. The Buckeyes are expected to cruise in the game without much pressure.
