Everyone knows the tale of Tate Martell.
Martell was supposed to be the next starting QB at Ohio State after Dwayne Haskins left — at least that’s what Martell thought. In the end, though, the Buckeyes brought in former 5-star QB recruit Justin Fields from Georgia and Martell left to try and get the starting job at Miami (FL).
How did it work out?
It didn’t work out at all. Martell lost the battle for the starting job.

So, what’s next for Martell? Will he transfer again to try and land a starting gig? Maybe not.

Martell obviously isn’t a QB here. He’s lining up as a slot receiver.
As long as Martell can catch and run routes, the switch to receiver may not be a crazy one. But again, he has to get off the line of scrimmage against a DB, run a route to get himself open and then finish it by catching the ball and seeing what he can do with it. It’s not a switch that anybody can make over night.
Martell has speed. We know that. But can he act as an effective pass-catcher?
That remains to be seen. Miami-Florida is playing on ESPN.
