The Oakland Raiders have picked up a new defender.

It was announced Sunday that former Illinois star and eight-year NFL veteran Corey Liuget signed with the team. Liuget spent the first eight years of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers, registering 103 starts in his career. He has 24 sacks and 59 tackles for loss and is a big piece in the middle of the defensive line.

Oakland announced the signing on Twitter:

Liuget starred with the Illini from 2008-10. He finished his collegiate career with 125 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks. Hopefully, he is able to stick with the Raiders defense after appearing in just six games last season.
