It’s been a pretty good camp in Bloomington this August — that is, there haven’t been many notable injuries to report through the month of practice. However, one of Indiana’s top defensive backs is still in question heading into the season opener.

Thursday, head coach Tom Allen met with the media and provided an update on Taylor’s injury status. Kevin Brockway of CNHI Indiana was one of several to report the news.

Earlier this month, Taylor suffered a hand injury that is still bothering him this week. He’s been able to move around and participate in some drills with the injury, but Allen doesn’t want to push things too quickly.

Taylor made a switch from offense to defense during the offseason, as Allen hopes to utilize his speed and ability in Indiana’s secondary. Last year, Taylor was used as a receiver and in special teams for the Hoosiers.

As a freshman, Taylor totaled 174 receiving yards and 83 rushing yards. He also totaled seven tackles.

Indiana opens the season on Saturday against Ball State at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
