Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday’s season-opener vs. South Alabama, Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Scott Frost said no decision has been made on the availability of sophomore RB Maurice Washington.

“We’ve got to wait and try to get more clarity and resolution before the week comes up,” Frost said, per Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald.

“Several people will try to sit down and make the best decision.”

Facing charges in California for distributing a video featuring a minor performing a sex act, Washington was listed as a co-starter on Nebraska’s most recent depth chart.

His next scheduled court date is Tuesday, September 3 in Santa Clara, CA.

A product of Trinity Christian Academy in Cedar Hill, Texas, Washington was a four-star recruit in the 2018 class, per the 247Sports Composite. He flashed potential by racking up 455 rushing yards and another 221 receiving in Frost’s system as a freshman.

Former Georgia Tech RB Dedrick Mills is listed as the co-starter with Washington. Mills led the Yellow Jackets in rushing as a freshman in 2016 with 771 yards, but was dismissed from the program due to a violation of team rules.

He spent the last two seasons at Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas.

If Washington is held out of the game, expect to see an increase in carriers for senior Wyatt Mazour. Listed behind Washington and Mills, Mazour played in all 12 games a year ago and tallied 76 yards on 11 rushes.
