WATCH: Connor Heyward punches in Spartans’ first TD of 2019

This is a good sign!

A lot has been made about Michigan State’s new-look offense during the offseason, and it finally was put on display Friday night. Though Tulsa did force the Spartans into a couple of third downs, Michigan State fought through the drive for the first touchdown of the season.

The key play of the drive was a scramble by quarterback Brian Lewerke. He picked up good yardage on his run, and a couple of penalties by the defense added on to the play.

The scoring play came courtesy of a throw from Lewerke to running back Connor Heyward. Heyward made a man miss before going airborne through contact for the score.
